Women’s quilt to be on display at the Winter Gardens to remember victims of domestic violence
A patchwork quilt commemorating the lives of 598 women in England and Wales killed by their partners or ex-partners will be on display at the Sheffield Winter Gardens on Wednesday December 6th from 10am – 6pm. The project was started by Roxanne Ellis, a Labour/Co-op councillor, after she read the Femicide Census, which records the names of all the women killed by their partners or ex-partners between 2009 and 2015.
Afterwards, from 6-8pm at Browns in the Peace Gardens, you are invited to a fundraiser buffet in aid of local domestic abuse charity VIDA, where you will be able to see the Women's Quilt up close and hear from the woman behind the idea. A £10 minimum donation per ticket is required to cover the cost of food and all additional funds will go to VIDA.
