Farewell to Isobel

Lisobel_bowler.jpgabourSheffield will today say farewell to Cllr Isobel Bowler who died on 28 June following a brave battle with cancer. The funeral takes place later today at Sheffield Cathedral.  Isobel leaves a teenage daughter, Mary, and her husband, Richard. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this horribly sad time.

Labour Leader Cllr Julie Dore said, “Isobel was a charismatic and popular councillor, who was devoted to her job as a ward member for Mosborough and as a Cabinet Member. She was no-nonsense, practical and always backed up her words with action.”

Isobel, an Oxford University graduate, lived in Fulwood and played an active part in the Sheffield community, being a governor at Westways School in Crookes. Following a long career in the public sector, she became councillor for Mosborough ward in 2010 and was named Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure two years later, a role that reflected her huge appetite for life.
