LabourSheffield is proud to support this week’s TUC Week of Action, celebrating the great work done by union reps and members in our workplaces and in society. We're proud of our unions and reject the government's damaging Trade Union Bill.
Sheffield Trade Union Council is holding two major public events on Thursday 11th February to reach out to union members, working people and civil society. All are welcome to join the lunchtime rally starting at 12.30pm on the City Hall steps and/or at our public meeting in the evening at 7pm in the United Reform Chapel next to the Crucible Theatre. The events are free to attend.
Louise Haigh MP and Cllr Mazher Iqbal will be speaking at the events on behalf of LabourSheffield.
Martin Mayer, Secretary Sheffield Trade Union Council, says "Trade Union rights are under attack as never before with the Trade Union Reform Bill going through Parliament as we speak. The Tories want to stop us going on strike, interfere in our internal affairs and starve the Labour Party of union funds. We are giving our full support to the TUC week of action 8th -14th February to raise awareness of the good work trade unions do and why we must join together to oppose these attacks - and we're holding the nation's biggest rally outside of London!".
