Alan wins PCC By Election: Result in Full

Labour's Alan Billings was elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner having received over half the first preferences of the total number of votes validly cast.

Alan has a massive task ahead: and there is a lot of listening and learning to do in a short time.

But the Halloween horror of a UKIP victory has been avoided.

Against much media bluster and predictions of a UKIP victory - South Yorkshire voters stood up for reason and common sense and gave a clear NO to the UKIP message of division and hatred.

We've had the chance to have our say - but however we voted - or didn't - it's now time to get behind Alan and build trust in our policing and our communities.

I know it’s frivolous but but 666 is such an apt comment on Sheffield UKIP
